Dr. Devin Radford | Tampa Bay Functional Radford

Tampa Bay Functional Neurology

When was the last time you had your doctor's undivided attention?

Based on recent data, the average time a patient spends face to face with their in-network doctor during an outpatient appointment is 5-7 minutes. Patients feel rushed, and frustrated they are unable to fully-express their symptoms and concerns to their doctor.

At Tampa Bay Functional Neurology, we pride ourselves on knowing our patients well. Our minimum time per-patient is 30 minutes for treatment visits, and 2 hours for new patient examinations. You will never feel rushed out of our office.

As a result, you will benefit from a thorough diagnosis, answers to your questions, and effective care.

We produce superior results because we spend the time necessary to do so.

Common Conditions We Treat

Caring for a spectrum of ailments, our expertise extends to addressing a wide range of common neurologic conditions.

Migraines + Headaches, neurologic conditions | Tampa Bay Functional Neurology

Concussion + Brain Injury, neurologic conditions | Tampa Bay Functional Neurology

Concussions and Brain Injuries

Brain injuries are like fingerprints; they are unique to the patient and their injury circumstances. Symptoms vary widely from mild headaches to outright memory loss and cognitive decline.

Vertigo + Dizziness, neurologic conditions | Tampa Bay Functional Neurology

Vertigo and Dizziness

The sensation of constant spinning can keep you out of the activities you love, and will leave you with miserable associated symptoms.

Disc + Nerve Pain | Tampa Bay Functional Neurology

Disc and Nerve Pain

Disc and nerve pain are chief reasons that a patient may present to a neuromuscular physician, likely due to their prevalence and persistence.

Neurodevelopmental Disorders | Tampa Bay Functional Neurology

Neurodevelopmental Disorders and Delays

Developmental and behavioral disorders are classically-challenging to treat, but respond well to a functional approach to the nervous system.

Autonomic Dysfunction, neurologic conditions | Tampa Bay Functional Neurology

Autonomic Dysfunction

Many “odd” and seemingly-unrelated symptoms that you are feeling may stem from autonomic dysfunction – a functional disorder of the nervous system.

Our Process

The Roadmap to Recovery

Historically, medical practice has left neurologic patients underserved, especially if their prior imaging reads “normal”. Unfortunately, the majority of prescribed treatments simply target and mask the symptoms of your dysfunction, not the source. Tampa Bay Functional Neurology specializes in finding root causes and producing lasting solutions to eliminate complaints.

Comprehensive Evaluation

Each of our neurologic patients begins with a thorough examination with the doctor including health history, physical exam, neurologic exam, oculo-visual assessment, vestibular and balance assessment, and cognitive screening.

Acute Care

The first phase of care focuses on “firefighting” — mitigating pain and cutting down on adverse symptoms. Our patients typically begin with an elimination-and-modification protocol in which the doctor works with them to root out deep-seated causes of pain and dysfunction.

Functional Re-Build

A transitional phase of treatment that prioritizes strengthening and endurance-building. Previously-eliminated triggers are slowly added back in to return to your normal daily rhythms in a stronger and smarter way.

Testimonials

Real People. Real Relief.

Dr. Radford working with a female patient | Tampa Bay Functional Neurology

"After suffering from increasingly worse migraines for 1.5 years and trying what felt like every option out there, I've finally had some relief thanks to Dr. Radford. He has helped me understand the likely underlying issues causing the migraines, and in addition to treatment in his office, gave me home exercises and other suggested changes to my day-to-day habits that may be contributing to the pain. He is super knowledgable, thoroughly explains everything, and always welcomes my many questions. I am so grateful and relieved to not be in pain every day and to just feel like myself again. 100% recommend especially for fellow migraine sufferers!”

    Chronic Migraine Sufferer

"Dr. Radford is extremely professional and detailed in his treatment approach. After being diagnosed with vestibular migraines over a year ago, I thought I would never get back to a place where I could manage and minimize my symptoms. Dr Radford has helped me do just that. His customization of treatment is explained in every aspect and helps you as the patient understand in greater depth about the cause of your condition. I am a very grateful patient and highly recommend!"

      Lindsey Edwards

      Vestibular Migraines, Vertigo

"I can't recommend Tampa Bay Functional Neurology enough! I was in a car accident 23 years ago that caused a herniated disc. Over the years the pain has progressively gotten worse. Over the past year my pain level was consistently at a level 7 or 8. I have gone through physical therapy, injections, visits to other chiropractors, and was getting ready to schedule surgery. I decided to give Dr. Radford a try to see if he could help. After a few visits (and some homework) my pain level began to drop. I am currently at a level 2 with pain and have no plans to schedule surgery. If you are suffering with chronic back pain, then you need to give him an opportunity to help you. I know that for me, it has changed my quality of life. Thank you Dr. Radford!"

        Chronic Pain after Car Accident

Dr Radford is great! Not only does he spend plenty of time with his patients he spends good quality time with them. He has already educated me about what is going on with my body as well as giving me functional exercises to use in his office and at home to improve my condition. I honestly could not be happier with the results I have received so far.

          Dysautonomia, Chronic Pain

"I am a chronic migraine sufferer after several concussions and ending up calling Dr. Radford out of desperation on day 5 of a migraine. He was able to get me in the same day, and spent close to an hour working out my neck and head. My pain level significantly decreased throughout the session and I woke up the next day headache free! Seriously haven’t had this much help from a doctor in years, highly recommend!"
