Autonomic Dysfunction

Many “odd” and seemingly-unrelated symptoms that you are feeling may stem from autonomic dysfunction – a functional disorder of the nervous system.

Typically, patients with this condition will begin to err toward increased sympathetic tone, which can express itself as POTS, orthostatic intolerance, palpitations, digestive difficulties, abdominal pain, brain fog, vision problems, fatigue, and more.

A diagnosis of “dysautonomia” is similar to a diagnosis of high blood pressure; it’s a description of what’s happening, but not an explanation of why. Autonomic dysfunction is highly variable in its presentation from person to person. Many of our patients with dysautonomia come to the office, having seen several other doctors previously. They have usually tried many home-remedies (compressive garments, electrolytes). However,  these modifications usually help, but don’t solve.

There are several concrete reasons that the body can fail to properly regulate itself, causing you to experience autonomic issues. Through a comprehensive clinical interview and examination, we diagnose and identify these failing mechanisms. It’s our experience that this specificity makes all the difference for patients between coping with symptoms and eliminating them.

Personalized Treatment Plan

A typical treatment plan with TBFN involves (but is not limited to) a blend of vagal nerve stimulation, tilt table therapy, cold laser, spinal manipulation, acupuncture and needling, dietary and lifestyle interventions, functional neurology, vestibular therapy, and physical therapy. The patient pays one flat rate for all of these services together. A typical trial of care runs for 3-6 weeks in which the patient is treated 2-3 times/week. The majority of our patients experience notable improvement within the first 1-2 weeks.

Direct-Pay Office

TBFN is a direct-pay office. We accept cash, credit, debit, and HSA/FSA cards. We are also happy to provide our patients with superbills to submit to their insurance company for reimbursement. We do this to allow the doctor to spend the time necessary with patients for comprehensive care, and to guarantee our patients fair, flat rates for their care.
